Sweet Olivia came to the studio today for her newborn session. Confession time: She had me worried within the first half hour of her session. This little peanut didn’t want me to move even a finger on her pretty little hands! Thankfully, once she realized who was boss, we were able to capture a gallery full of images as yummy as this.
There are tons more I’d love to share, but I must post another adorable session’s sneak peeks, capture a baby boy tomorrow and shoot 7 minis plus a full session this weekend. Why all in May, folks??? lol…

I can only recall a couple of moments in the past when an action in the present zapped me back in time. A friend referred to this as a full-circle moment. Have you had any? I’ll never forget the moment our youngest started stroking my face the way my mother always did. It was so strange to feel comforted and loved that way by my own baby, and instantly brought me back to moments when I lay on my mom’s lap, soaking in her love. sigh
I had another really cool full-circle moment last week. The story goes back to when I was 16 yrs old and discovered Ballet. As a flat-footed ballet dancer, I obsessively drew the lower half of a tutu’ed ballerina on pointe in sous-sus (A releve, or rise, with the feet in a tight fifth position.). She, unlike me, had the most amazing arches. ; D I drew this over and over and over. And there I was, last week, PHOTOGRAPHING this…
… the lower half of a tutu’ed ballerina on pointe in sous-sus, but creating this little piece of art using an entirely different medium. My mom had always told me I needed to do something creative with my life, but I had no clue what that meant. Moms do know best.
And then there is little Mr. C. I captured him last year as he celebrated his first birthday. This was one of those funky times in my business when I didn’t feel confident that I was “good enough” to be given the honor of watching my littlest clients grow through my lens. Mr C. is not the first I’ve captured multiple times, but there was something about this family that really stuck with me last year. They are incredibly upbeat, energetic, and full of love. I *really* hoped I’d see them again. And there they were, celebrating little C’s 2nd birthday and the anticipation of his baby sister.
(Make sure to check out the family image on the bench in the left column. That boy luuuves his Mama.)
Life is wonderful.
Thank you, G. Family, for the honor of capturing your sweet boy, again.
New boudoir post is up on Lillybelle Rose Boudoir > Click here!
Two more sessions to post before a weekend of minis. Fingers crossed that the lovely weather sticks!
*** Have a great day! ***
Hoping you all had a Mother’s Day filled with love and laughter, and relaxation!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me to capture the loves of your life!
Beautiful, calm, hungry Ryan came to the studio for his newborn portraits this week. Have I told you how much I love my job? (And that newborns are a close first to my all-time-favorite sessions to photograph???) Come melt with me…
Thank you so much for the honor S.! It was such a pleasure to finally meet you and your family! Congratulations to you all!
… and so much more.
This sweet young lady dances at the same dance school Bella attends, and she’s an amazing dancer at just 13 years young. Can you imagine how crazy excited I was when mom asked about a session??? Woo! Hoo! It was really cool to hang out with this beauty for a couple of hours (Modeling sessions allow for more outfit changes!) and get to know *that* dancer a bit. She won me over in minutes, with her bright eyes and beautiful smile, then she started dancing, in my studio, and I was putty in her hands. Meet Clara.
Thank you so much for the honor!!! It was wonderful spending time with you, Clara, and Mom!
Next up on the blog, this little piece of heaven…
It’s that time again. Sigh. Time for big steps, change, the inevitable rearing it’s ugly head. It’s the end of the school year. I’m the first to admit I don’t love change, but I can handle it. But why oh why do so many changes have to stick their nasty thumbs on their noses, wagging their fingers at me all at once? At times like this, I really wish I wasn’t allergic to wine.
What changes you ask?
For starters, there is our oldest who is driving. Then there is the special guy in her life, for 9 months strong. She hangs out with friends a lot now. College is staring me in the face and laughing.
Next up is our quiet, shy monkey in the middle, who decided to find her voice and confidence this year. She sings beautifully, but until this year, quietly. And now, volunteer solos, recital performances that bring those who know her to tears, and the school variety show. Yes, she did a variety show at school! More wonderful and somehow frustrating, she is ready for HS. The one who didn’t want to leave home to go to school is ready to head into the big, wonderful world of teenagehood. College is waving from the back of the room.
Finally, our baby. She is dancing five days a week and LOVING it, no longer asking to put on her pjs after school and snuggle with mom. She’s excited about middle school next year and oh so ready. Then there is today, when she headed off to Outdoor Ed, almost 100% ready for an amazing adventure without mom and dad for 2 1/2 days. College is giggling in the corner.
I’m well aware that these are all blessings. Everything above shows us we are doing things ‘right’. It all means they are doing just what they are supposed to do. But for now, I’m going to hate it all. Let me sulk. I’ll be done in a minute.

THIS BIRTHDAY BOY MADE ME GIDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet R. brought his parents and his AWESOME personality to the studio on his 2nd birthday, and my goodness did I we have fun! Mr. R. started out very quiet and quite serious, studying the new surroundings (After all, he was only a year old his first time here. ;D) and the silly lady chatting with his parents. Before we even finished the session, this wonderful little man was holding my hand. *MELT* Yeah, I kinda loved this session. Thought I’d share a ‘couple’ of smiles with you all.
It was wonderful to see you all again, B. Family! Thank you for the honor of capturing your dear family on R’s birthday!

The title says it all. Artistic, athletic, kind, intelligent, funny, and good looking sums it up. I love my nephews.
Presenting the soon-to-be high-schooler.
And his big brother, the High School graduate (Who was trying to mess with me here. hehehe)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the world is a better place because of these young men. My twin and her hubby have done a good job!
