As I type, there are 30+ teenagers outside laughing, jumping, eating, and celebrating a new beginning. Today is our Alexa’s birthday, and yesterday was her 8th grade achievement ceremony. And so, we are spending the weekend celebrating her birthday and graduation. Tomorrow our home will be bursting with nearly 80 family members and friends. I’m tired, but feeling the blessings of a big family and a daughter cherished by many peers. Funny to think that just 14 years ago, she needed me by her side. Tonight all I have to do is check in and make sure everyone has all they need, then I am politely ‘excused’.
It really does seem like yesterday she was as tiny and helpless as sweet baby Caroline, captured last week at 7 days new. Isn’t she a beauty? She was one of the most alert and active one week old babies I’ve ever met! I think she’s anxious to play with her big brother – who is one heck of an adorable little dude. Soon baby girl. All too soon…
