Most important tidbit of information regarding your session? It will be fun, memorable and stress-free! We will focus on capturing personality, relationships, love and laughter. THAT is Lillybelle Rose Photography.
Sessions can take place in any location with bright natural light, or my wonderful little studio! Once you have booked your session via the online scheduler (All available sessions are at your fingertips. You choose which works best for you. Simple. Easy. Efficient!), you will receive a welcome email with access to a gallery of images from my favorite locations, along with tips on having a successful session. Location is secondary to good lighting and sharp images, but we will work together to choose a location you’ll be thrilled with! To begin your session, we will discuss your goals, play or chat to warm up with the little ones, and then work together to achieve your goals, always having fun along the way. Posing will be natural and when it comes to children, kept to a minimum! This is not a big box photography experience – expect a lot of variety and fun, no rush, and no end to my patience!

Group Sessions
I no longer shoot group/extended family sessions. If your family group would like to book individual mini sessions in order to gift the grandparents wall portraits of all their grandchildren, the grandparents are invited to participate in each mini session at no additional charge. I’ll even capture them as a couple, because we all need images of our parents, too.

Helping you prepare for your session
No stress allowed!
It would be such a shame to look at your photos years from now and remember how stressful your session was. That is exactly why your portrait session will be a no-stress-allowed experience! We are going to enjoy our time together and it will be reflected in your images.
What to wear?
Start by avoiding large logos, then wear what makes you feel GOOD! Look at how the color of your clothing impacts your complexion, eyes and mood. Your dress should reflect your home and lifestyle, not some idea of what a portrait should be. Portraits these days capture “real people”, and unless you wear a dress or suit and tie around the house, why would you want a stiff image of yourself in such? Bare feet and comfy clothes look great in a casual family room setting, but spiffing it up just a bit for a living room portrait works well, too! Be sure colors coordinate between subjects, but forget about matching. Textures keep the image interesting and draws the viewer in. Think tone on tone patterns, knits, scarves, vests, hats, jewelry, and layers. Still not sure, check out the What to Wear link under Your Session at the website for inspiration & sites to browse/shop: www.lillybellerosephotography.com
Your images are yours!
Yes, you can use your images to print photobooks for Grandma, calanders for Dad, or as your profile pictures on Facebook. If you would like to order professional prints through Lillybelle Rose Photography, your order will come from one of the nation’s premier printers, printed on Kodak Professional Endura Paper with a lustre finish. Prints 8 x 10 or larger come mounted on a 2mm styrene board for appearance and durability.
Newborns
There is nothing like the tiny hands and feet, soft skin and sweet sleepiness of a brand new baby. To preserve these precious moments, be sure to schedule your appointment well before your little miracle arrives. It is best to photograph your newborn between 4 – 10 days after birth, ensuring they are still willing to curl up in a little bundle and be placed on their belly. This also is the time right before baby acne and colic can develop! If you are unable to keep the originally scheduled appointment, I will do my best to fit you in before your little one decides they don’t like to be curled up!
Please try to ensure your baby has just been fed and is nice and warm. Sleepy babies are the easiest to work into the poses that melt our hearts, so do your best to keep them up and stimulated before the session begins. Bath time or frequent changes can help you accomplish this goal. Your newborn will set the pace of the session. If your baby needs to be fed or changed during the session, we will take a break. It is very helpful if a bottle can be used during a session for topping off and soothing “in pose”. (I nursed all three of our girls, and can promise a bottle here and there will not confuse your nursing babe!) When considering clothing for newborns, the best outfits are their birthday suits! I have blankets and wraps if we want to swaddle them and create variety, but simplicity is key for such tiny subjects. NO COLLARED OUTFITS, PLEASE. They have such tiny little necks – collars swallow them up whole!
Maternity
The ideal time to capture this exciting event is midway through your sixth or seventh month. It’s always fun to photograph your growing belly. This is made simple by wearing button-down tops, camis, wraps or stretchy tees that can be opened up or rolled up over your baby bump. Tube tops and flowing skirts make excellent choices for feminine, romantic maternity images! Your hands will be in many images, so be sure your nails are groomed!
Children
Please be sure your child is well rested and fed before the session begins. Don’t forget to check teeth, lips and noses for “surprises” that may be difficult to photoshop out! Your little ones should feel relaxed about their upcoming portrait session, so show your enthusiasm. It will set the mood! When we meet, I will interact with your child and access how to proceed. If we need to sit and chat while your little one gets comfortable with me, we will!
Location
Location can have a big impact at this stage. If you feel your child will be more comfortable in their own surroundings, your session should take place in your home. If they are curious and busy, an open park-like area may suit them best.
To reschedule or not to reschedule?
No need to worry about little blemishes or boo-boos. This is where the miracles of photoshop can be put to good use. However, if the subject isn’t feeling well, no bribe is great enough to put a sparkle in an eye! Please call as soon as you know your child is ill to reschedule your session. If the weather is uncooperative we can discuss a location change or reschedule.
Weather Conditions
It is quite rare to have to reschedule or move a session due to poor weather conditions. Since our weather forecasts are always changing, I will not call to discuss the possibility of canceling or rescheduling an outdoor session until 24 hours prior to your session. Clouds create a beautiful soft light and sessions on cloudy days produce wonderful images. Rain is another story! If the forecast calls for a 50% or greater chance of rain, I will contact you to discuss whether you would like to change your location to the studio or reschedule your session. If the forecast calls for temperatures over 95 degrees, I will contact you to discuss whether or not you would like to come to the studio or reschedule.
