This is, somehow, our monkey in the middle. This young woman is, somehow, the child we gave birth to only 13 years ago. This gorgeous spirit is, somehow, going to be heading into high school next year. I swear to you it was only yesterday, or last month at the most, we discovered her beautiful voice as she sang herself to sleep with cooing and vocalizing at just 3 months old. It was also just a short time ago “garbage” was “gargib”. Wasn’t it just last week her artwork was posted in the District offices? Had to have been only moments ago we realized she will forever be on the honor roll. There is no way the night she stunned our community with her 5th grade chorus concert solo (Because she is so quiet, no one knew the gorgeous voice she was hiding.) was more than just weeks ago. Right?!?!
And still, here we are, celebrating her status as an 8th grader with a series of portrait sessions. On this incredible Sunday, Alexa and I headed over to Cantigny and cherished every moment of our time together. I was brought to tears three times over. ha! Looking through my lens at this beautiful young woman took my breath away. There are so. very. many. images I’d love to share, but for tonight, here is ‘our’ favorite.
